Beginning in 2000, the space where SoLace Studios Fine Handcrafts is currently located was originally a workspace and showroom for the original marbled silk designs of fiber artist Barb Polin. Originally a pharmacy and doctors office, Polin purchased the 1922 building in 2007 and restored it to as close to original as possible. The original tin ceilings and plaster walls remained intact after all the years hidden by paneling and a drop ceiling.

 

Today, SoLace Studios not only boasts the fine marbling of Polin, but the fine handcrafts of over 100 regional and national artists. You will enjoy the setting in small town Elkton with the Blue Ridge Mountains as the backdrop. We are located about five miles west of the Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park which the Appalachian Trail passes through. Two miles down the road in Elkton, you can put your canoe or kayak in the Shenandoah River. And about five miles away is Massanutten Resort which has year round activities for the vacationer.
